KAHIN PYAR NA HO JAAYE

DIRECTOR: K. MURALI MOHAN RAO
STARRING: SALMAN KHAN, RANI MUKHERJEE, JACKIE SHROFF, POOJA BATRA

'Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye' reunites Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee on the big screen once again. The pair has received a mixed response from the audience, and while some people think they make a perfect on-screen couple, others think they are terrible together!

Their last movie, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, managed to do well at the box office - and now all eyes are on Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye. Will it be able to repeat the success?

The story starts off with a happy family setting. Mohnish Behl and Kashmira Shah are husband and wife who have set up a nice home with their two kids. Mohnish's younger brother (Salman Khan) also lives with them.

Salman wants to make a mark in the singing world, and has started his career by working at weddings. Funnily enough, Salman is about to marry someone too, and that special girl is none other than Raveena Tandon. However, luck is not on his side, and Raveena dumps him on their wedding day because she wants to marry a rich guy instead.

Salman is obviously crushed by this event…until he meets a certain Rani Mukherjee and falls in love with her! Once again, luck is not on his side, and Rani is about to marry someone else. Now Salman Khan has to work towards winning Rani's heart, and luckily for him, he has lots of help from his friends (including best friend Jackie Shroff). But is this enough to make Rani ditch her current love interest and run into the arms of Salman? And what happens when Raveena returns with a change of mind about marrying Salman?

Fans of Hollywood movies may think the story sounds familiar, which is hardly surprisingly, since it is a copy of the Hollywood hit 'The Wedding Singer' (starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler). But 'Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye' does not match the wit and charm of the original.

For a start, the actually production is quite low quality, and its obvious that the film is made on a small budget. Salman Khan has done a decent job, but gets annoying at times with his shrieking performance. He should really try and handle his characters different from film to film, because a lot of his performances are getting repetitive.

In fact, none of the performances really stand out. Rani, Jackie, Raveena, Kashmira…they all do a sound job, but none have put too much effort in their performances.

The same team who brought us the hit 'Bandhan' has produced this movie. 'Bandhan' was also quite a weak film, but lets not forget that it did manage to bring in the cash at the box office. This just goes to prove that it is hard to predict what the audiences accept and what they reject. However, it is unlikely that this one will strike gold at the box office!
