In order to present your thoughts, modify the opinions, and promote favorable action, it will be very vital for you to ensure that the presentation you make are effective. To make effective presentations some techniques have been outlined in this part of the session, and then suitably elaborated.
An effective presentation is the result of PODD, i.e. Planning + Organising + Developing + Delivering. To make your presentation effective and successful, each step is explained clearly as follows : a. Planning When you answer a question like "Tell me something about yourself", it would be ideal to first appraise the interviewer with your personal and educational background, state your objective clearly and then impress the interviewer with your details of your technical knowledge. It is you technical knowledge that will finally make him decide whether you will be suited for the job. These details when presented in the right order would result in the desired outcome. For this to happen, planning you thoughts is very essential. Planning is the essence of a good presentation. When planning is done, some key questions get answered. For Example. Start with a BOM.
Background Background : Understand the background of the topic or the problem. Keeping mind the background of the audience. Objective : First chart out the objective. Decide why you want to make the presentation and what should be the final outcome ? Motivation : WIIFM ? "What's In It For Me ?" This is a question every audience is concerned with. Why should someone spend and hour or two listening and learning from you? There has to be very clear advantage to the audience, and this has to be explicitly told to them. Remember : People Forger !
