European Outlets
Without a special plugin adapter, your electronics will not work
in ordinary European outlets. So, why does it matter? It may
not, unless you have an iPod, electric shaver, or other
electronic devices that will need to be charged.
The electrical current in Spain is usually 220 volts compared
to the USA's 110 volts. All of the plugs that are used there are
round-prongs. So, standard US electronics that need US outlets
will not work at all in Spain. So what is needed: Plug Adapter,
Transformer, and maybe a Converter
Plug adapters are needed for the different prongs
previously mentioned
Transformers are needed for low wattage electronics.
This 50 watt 50/60 Hz tranformer will suffice for shavers,
iPods, and the like.
Converters are needed for high wattage electronics like
hair
dryers. It is important for the converter wattage to match
the device's wattage.
One option is to purchase Spanish outlets is to buy them
online. Using Google, you can probably find many places to
purchase them.
To get european outlets in Spain, you may be able to find them
at department stores. A typical Spanish store that carries
european outlets is "El Corte Inglés." Finding transformers may
be more difficult though. So we recommend getting your necessary
electronic devices before your trip online or at your local
electronics store.
