MATARWALE CHAWAL

9-10"round, 2-3 " high dish
1 cup basmati rice - soaked for 1 hour 

1 cup shelled peas
1/ " piece ginger - grated 

1 large onion- sliced finely 

1 and 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red chilli powder 

1/4 tsp garam masala 

2-3 laung (cloves)
2 green chillies
2 tbsp chopped coriander
1 firm tomato - cut into strips & pulp removed 

3 tbsp oil

 

 

1. Micro high oil in a large dish for 2 minutes.

2. Add peas, onions, ginger, salt, chilli powder, garam masala & laung. Micro high for 3
    minutes.

3. Drain the rice and add to it. Add 2 cups water, whole green chillies, coriander leaves and
    tomato strips. Mix lightly.

4. Micro high covered 11 minutes. Stir once after 5 minutes with a fork. 

5. Let stand for 2 minutes. Fluff it up with a fork to separate the grains. Serve hot.
