Muglisara
This ancient Port City was where Sir Thomas Roe landed when he came to India
as King James Ambassador to the Court of Emperor Jehangir. During the Mughal
Regime, Surat was the main port of departure for pilgrims to Mecca. The
Mugusarali is the huge travellers inn where Haj Pilgrims user to stay. Today,
this building is user as the Surat Muncipal Corporation Building.

Historical Fort of Surat
The fort of Surat was built in year 1540-41 by Khudawand Khan primary with a view to protect the city from the
foreign aggression it is an ancient
monument constructed during 16th century. The fort was built in with solid bricks, stones and
lime. The width of the wall was 4.06 meters. It is constructed at the bank of river
Tapi. It is
adjacent to Hope bridge. At present many
government offices are functioning this premises.
